• MET Norway Locationforecast - Norwegian Meteorological Institute's global forecast product, used as a fast lat/lon-accurate baseline for every hike worldwide. api.met.no

• USGS, USFS, NPS, and other public trail and mountain datasets - Public agency route, peak, and trail records normalized into a common hike catalog.
• OpenSkiMap - Open dataset of ski areas worldwide. We import a curated subset as optional summit-style hike locations, toggleable in Settings. openskimap.org

Map and catalog data can contain errors, stale names, duplicated routes, missing access restrictions, or incomplete geometry. Hike Forecast is not affiliated with OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, LongTrailsWiki, OpenLongTrails, OpenSkiMap, or any government agency.

How grades are calculated

We assign hikeability grades based on temperature, wind, gusts, precipitation and thunderstorm risk. These grades should not be treated as an endorsement, but in general we advise skipping any day with a C+ grade or lower, if your goal is to complete a normal summer hike.
